Buckcherry @ South Beach (10/13/06)
What's up rock fans? I checked out the Buckcherry show in Lubbock Friday night and I was surprised to see such a good turn out. Buckcherry fuckin rocks! Believe it or not, there are not many bands today playing pure, uncompromised hard rock. I'm not talkin about thrash metal, hardcore or pop rock, I'm talkin about honest, guitar driven rock n' roll. Buckcherry impresses me because these guys are not trying to impress anyone. They're good at what they do and they know it. One thing missing in many of todays "so called" rock bands is that one important element...confidence. The way I see it, you're a rock band, don't be ashamed or embarrased about it. As a matter of fact I think you should flaunt it. I'm sick of bands incorporating different genres of music into their sound, just to have a hit or fit in. Rock n' roll has never been about fitting in and that's why I like Buckcherry! The show Friday night was relentless, loud and technically pretty damn good. The band started the show with a new track and proceeded through a set list containing songs from their three disc history. The vocal power of Josh Todd is better than ever and the four piece gang backing him up is a live force to be reckoned with. The guys don't waste a lot of time bullshitting with the crowd and that means you definitely get your dollars worth at a Buckcherry show. Of course the band ripped their way through their most well known tracks, "Lit Up", "Ridin", and "Crazy Bitch" the crowd showed their approval by singin along with all three! Buckcherry provided no encore which really didn't matter. At the end of this one the crowd seemed satisfied as well as exausted ( or just drunk). I'll say it again, a band like Buckcherry is a rarity these days. Buckcherry plays rock the right way and for the right reason, it comes natural to 'em. I know this might sound simple to some but, that's ok, whoever said hard rock needs to be complex. If by some chance rock does not come natural to these guys, they should get an oscar. I've been a Buckcherry fan since the debut cd but, it's really solidified now that I've seen them live. I'm gettin tired now so remember if you get a chance to see the cherries live...DO NOT screw it up, I mean you can take your honey to dinner and a movie anytime. If you're a true rock fan trust me, you will not be disappointed. Don't forget to check out BACKSTAGE in Lubbock, Tx at 3636-50th street. We carry some of the best and rarest rock merch. in west tx.
